Carbon Black is the new black. Lest Aston Martin’s flagship DBS wasn’t already the height of luxurious sports cars with its racing inspired V12 engine, the Carbon Black Special Edition turns the opulence dial to 11.

“Carbon” comes from the liberal use of light-weight materials, while “Black” describes the generous application of the shade to every surface. In fact, we could only find two places that weren’t black: silver contrast stitching between large swaths of obsidian black leather and silver trim around dials and switches. When Aston Martin says black, they mean it.

The headlining feature of the special edition DBS is its metallic black exterior. The flawless coat is a labor-intensive operation, needing 50 hours to complete. The result is a paint job justifying the DBS’s trust fund-draining sticker price and your dilated pupils.
